Miss Universe Canada gets set for Bollywood

It's almost a tradition for Miss Indias to transition into Bollywood, and international beauty queens, too, are now following the same path. After Miss Sri Lanka Jacqueline Fernandez, it's Miss Universe Canada 2012 Sahar Biniaz, who is preparing to make Bollywood her home. She had turned quite a few heads among industry folks during TOIFA in Vancouver this year.

But, Sahar isn't just a pretty face. She has a full scholarship to the New York Film Academy and an honouree award for her humanitarian work with Operation Smile. She has done acting assignments in the West, including guest star roles on TV shows Sanctuary and Smallville. She was also the lead in the international film Ambrosia.
But, India, her birthplace, is where she always saw herself. She says, "I've watched Bollywood films and always felt that part of my soul belonged here." She is now preparing to enter the industry armed with her exotic looks and charm. Adds Sahar, "I've been offered a few projects, but I'm very selective. I want to choose a character that can affect the audience."

She speaks English, Spanish and Farsi and is learning Hindi. She is also practising Bollywood dance and counts Madhuri Dixit among her inspirations. "I'm blown away by Indian women, especially those from the industry, like Ekta Kapoor and Pooja Bhatt," she says.
